Description
This house known as the Gushee House is located at 808 Pleasant Street.
It was built around 1799 and is a typical New England farmhouse with rooms equal size in the front part of the house, upstairs and down, with the borning room, keeping room, and buttery along the back house and first floor and small bedrooms on the second floor. A wing and large barn were added around the mid-1880s. The current residents believe that the kitchen of the wing of the former summer kitchen of the main house, and that this room was separated from the house, jacked up, and moved on rollers by horses and oxen to the new addition.
