Stone Weir marks the crossing on Snake River on the first Indian Trail through this region. The fording place is on the stream that runs through Halifax from Monponsett Pond to Robbins Pond. Today the water is dammed at Stone Weir to raise the level of Monponsett Pond and permit a reverse runoff to Silver Lake.
