Note steeple missing from the top of the church. It blew over in a storm on December 18, 1921.

Halifax Congregational Church and the "new" Town Hall with carriage sheds in back, wrought iron fence around Civil War Monument. The new Town Hall was built in 1907 near the site of the First Meeting House.

Aroline Soule led the movement to establish Halifax's Soldiers' Monument for Civil War Veterans. Her son, Charles W. Soule, died at Newberne, North Carolina in 1862 at the age of eighteen.
